Change of Property Tax Mailing Address

Are your Property Tax Statements and Assessment Notices mailed to the wrong address? To avoid late payments or interest fees, change your address with the City Assessor's office.

Step 1: Gather Your Information

Property Owner

Do you want to make a permanent address change? If you claim the Principal Residence Exemption (PRE) on this property, changing your mailing address may remove your exemption. The amount you pay for property tax may increase. If you need more information about the PRE, contact the City by dialing 311 or (616) 456-3000.

Property Owner's Representative

Upload or send a letter to the Assessor's office stating you have the owner's permission to update their mailing address. The change will not be effective until the letter is received by the Assessor's office. In some cases, the Assessor's office may also request some of the following information:

  • Copy of the Deed
  • Death Certificate
  • Driver's License
  • Marriage License

Step 2: Have Your Parcel ID Number Ready

If you don't have the Parcel Number for this property, you can look it up using the Parcel ID Lookup. In the search bar at the top of the page, type in your address (ex. 300 Monroe) and click Search. Your Parcel Number will be the Reference # between the Address and the property owner's Name. You can also call 311 or (616) 456-3000 for your Parcel Number.
